E, indeed didst cry?' 'Indeed I did, my soul!' 'I would those tears were in some crystal vase, I'd give a province for the costly urn.' She threw her arms around his neck and covered his face with kisses. Sunset sounded from the minarets. They arose and wandered together in the surrounding paradise. The sky was tinted with a pale violet flush, a single star floating by the side of the white moon, that beamed with a dim lustre, soft and shapely as a pearl. 'Beautiful!' exclaimed the pensive Schirene, as she gazed upon the star. 'O, my Alroy, why cannot we ever live alone, and ever in a paradise?' 'I am wearied of empire,'
replied Alroy with a smile, 'let us fly!' 'Is there no island, with all that can make life charming, and yet impervious to man? How little do we require! Ah! if these gardens, instead of being surrounded by hateful Bagdad, were only encompassed by some beautiful ocean!' 'My heart, we live in a paradise, and are seldom disturbed, thanks to Honain!' 'But the very consciousness that there are any other persons existing besides ourselves is to me painful. Every one who even thinks of you seems to rob me of a part of your being. Besides, I am weary of pomp and palaces.

Being as neither McCain nor Obama are seated on any financial committees, McCain's trip to Washington was pure stagecraft and he should get some sort of award for it. The crisis was caused by greed, something that McCain admitted during last evening's debates and he also admitted that there are those in his party, the party of Lincoln by the way, who are now serving prison sentences for their misdeeds. This happens when one party controls congress for too many years (45 I believe at last count). One would have to be completly blind to not know there's a problem. I'm not sure Obama can fix it, but I'm sure McCain cannot. Why? Because he now owes allegiance to the same group that elected our last disaster. I was for him, by the way, when he was a maverick. Now, since he has caved to the religious right--who should mind God's business and not ours--I've changed my mind. I admired him because he seemed his own man, but now he's bought and paid for by the Christian Iatolas.
Yes our society has gone to hell in a hand basket but who shoulders the blame. We flaunt rules and laws, ignore history, save nothing, spend beyond our means and then look around for someone beside ourselves on which to blame our troubles. Jobs leave the United States because the American worker, although we work hard, really have no work ethic, skills or imagination. Most workers believe that pay is not earned but a privilege. We are so good at exporting our philosophy that Europeans have copied our laziness and taken it to the next level. The only thing that's saved them so far is their low birth rate. Productivity has moved to Asia and will stay there while we swap places with them--poverty for us and high living for them. The only way to stop it is to start anther world war and we are not beyond doing that to maintain our greed. So I don't see much hope. We are nationalizing our financial institutions much like any third-world country. Next is big industry and then we can all work for the government. Maybe this is a good thing because we have lost our ability to rule ourselves,as has been evident in the past six election cycles when about 25% of our population care enough to exercise involvement in government. Four years of misery or prosperity is being decided by one of two states, a system that's going to have to be changed before any real change can occur. So what's being set up for us is a nice dictatorship and our only hope is that we are not ruled by Christian Iatolas.
